Number Of Ingredients 7

2 Cups flour
4 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 tsp cream of tartar
2 tsp sugar
1/2 Cup shortening
2/3 Cup milk

Steps:

  • 1. Sift dry ingredients 2. Fold in shortening until mixture resembles coarse crumbs 3. Add milk 4. Use rolling pin and roll dough to 1/2 thick 5. Cut out biscuits Bake @ 450 for 10-12 minutes

Tips:

  • Choose the right biscuit mix. There are many different types of biscuit mixes available, so it's important to choose one that will give you the results you're looking for. For a light and fluffy biscuit, choose a mix that contains baking powder and baking soda. For a more dense and chewy biscuit, choose a mix that contains butter or shortening.
  • Follow the directions on the biscuit mix package carefully. Each mix is different, so it's important to follow the directions carefully to ensure that your biscuits turn out perfectly.
  • Use cold butter or shortening. Cold butter or shortening will help to create a flaky biscuit. If you use melted butter or shortening, your biscuits will be more dense and less flaky.
  • Work the dough quickly. Overworking the dough will make your biscuits tough. Work the dough just until it comes together, then shape it and bake it.
  • Bake the biscuits in a hot oven. A hot oven will help to create a golden brown crust on your biscuits. Bake the biscuits until they are lightly browned and a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.

Conclusion:

Biscuits are a delicious and versatile food that can be enjoyed for breakfast, lunch, or dinner. They can be served with a variety of toppings, such as butter, jam, honey, or gravy.
