MOM'S APPLE CRUNCH
I've been making this recipe for over 20 years! The autumn season just wouldn't be the same without it. A generous scoop of this dessert with vanilla ice cream on top is a heavenly delight. Peaches can used instead of apples. Either way, a favorite with our family.

Steps:
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
- Combine the first 5 ingredients.
- Mix well and place in a greased 9x13 baking dish.
- Combine oats, flour, brown sugar, baking soda, baking powder and melted butter.
- Crumble together well, and sprinkle over the apple mixture.
- Bake for 35 to 40 minutes.
- Serve warm with vanilla ice cream.
Tips:
- Choose the right apples: Use firm, tart apples like Granny Smith or Honeycrisp. They hold their shape better during baking and provide a nice contrast to the sweet topping.
- Slice the apples thinly: This will help them cook evenly and become tender.
- Don't overmix the topping: Overmixing will make the topping tough. Mix just until the ingredients are combined.
- Bake the crunch until the topping is golden brown and the apples are tender: This usually takes about 30-35 minutes.
- Serve warm: Apple crunch is best served warm when the topping is still crispy and the apples are soft and juicy.
