BITTERSWEET CHOCOLATE CREAM CHEESE FROSTING

Bittersweet Chocolate Cream Cheese Frosting image

I don't like traditional cream cheese frosting, so my friend made this and used it to frost chocolate cupcakes when I went to her place for lunch. She's right, add chocolate and I'll devour anything! She gave me this recipe (it's originally from Diana's Desserts), and I thought I'd share it with all my fellow chocoholics. Makes 1 3/4 cups of frosting (she frosted 12 large cupcakes). Cooking time is the estimated time for melting chocolate.

Tips:

  • Use high-quality bittersweet chocolate for the best flavor. A chocolate with a cocoa content of 70% or higher is ideal.
  • Make sure the butter and cream cheese are at room temperature before you start making the frosting. This will help them blend together smoothly.
  • If you don't have a stand mixer, you can make the frosting with a hand mixer. Just be sure to beat the butter and cream cheese until they are very light and fluffy before adding the chocolate.
  • Don't overbeat the frosting once you've added the chocolate. Otherwise, it will become grainy.
  • If you want a thicker frosting, chill it for a few hours before using.
  • This frosting can be used to frost cakes, cupcakes, or brownies. It can also be used as a filling for pies and tarts.

Conclusion:

This bittersweet chocolate frosting is a rich, decadent, and delicious way to top your favorite desserts. It's easy to make and can be tailored to your own taste preferences. Whether you like it thick or thin, sweet or less sweet, this frosting is sure to please.
