Tips:

  • To achieve the best flavor, use high-quality steak that is at least 1 inch thick. Look for steaks that have good marbling, as this will help keep them juicy and flavorful during cooking.
  • Make sure your grill is hot before cooking the steaks. This will help to create a nice crust on the outside of the steak while keeping the inside tender and juicy.
  • Don't overcook the steaks! Cook them to your desired doneness, but remember that they will continue to cook slightly after they are removed from the grill.
  • Let the steaks rest for a few minutes before slicing them. This will help to redistribute the juices throughout the steak, resulting in a more tender and flavorful bite.
  • For the best results, use freshly grated horseradish in the mayonnaise. This will give the mayonnaise a nice spicy kick that will complement the steak perfectly.

Conclusion:

The black pepper crusted steak sandwiches with aged cheddar, horseradish mayonnaise, and watercress are a delicious and easy-to-make meal that is perfect for a summer cookout. The steaks are juicy and flavorful, the cheese is sharp and tangy, the mayonnaise is creamy and spicy, and the watercress adds a refreshing crunch. This sandwich is sure to be a hit with everyone who tries it!
