Steps:
- Throw the mint leaves and the sugar into a pitcher. Smoosh it around a bit with a spoon to get a bit of the mint oil out of the leaves. Roll the limes on the counter to help release the juice, slice them in half, and squeeze into the pitcher. You can even press a spoon into the lime halves to eke out every last bit of juice, if you want.
- Now the most important step: ADD THE RUM! :)
- Next: If you're camping and your guy is waiting outside with the awesome hand-crank blender at the ready, take the pitcher outside for the next step. Or you can do this with your blender inside, too.
- Fill the blender with 4-5 cups of ice cubes. Pour half the mojito mixture in, and blend on a low speed for 5-10 seconds, just until the mint has been chopped and the ice is a little smaller.
- Divide the mixture between two large glasses, top with club soda to taste. Pour the second half in the blender, and do it again.
- Now just drop straws in, pass 'em out, and let the party begin!

Steps:
- Place enough sugar on small plate to reach depth of 1/4 inch. Run lime wedge around rim of 4 Martini glasses to moisten. Dip rims into sugar on plate. Blend rum, lime juice, and 1/3 cup sugar in blender until sugar dissolves. Add 4 cups ice; blend until slushy and almost smooth, adding up to 1 cup more ice, if desired. Add 12 mint leaves and blend until small green flecks appear. Pour into prepared glasses. Garnish with mint sprigs.
Tips:
- Use fresh ingredients: The fresher the ingredients, the better your mojito will taste. This is especially important for the mint and lime juice.
- Choose the right rum: There are many different types of rum that can be used in a mojito, but a light or white rum is typically the best choice. Some popular brands of rum for mojitos include Bacardi, Havana Club, and Mount Gay.
- Use simple syrup: Simple syrup is a mixture of sugar and water that is used to sweeten cocktails. It is easy to make at home, and it can be stored in the refrigerator for up to two weeks.
- Muddle the mint and lime wedges: Muddling the mint and lime wedges releases their flavors and oils, which will give your mojito a more intense flavor.
- Don't over-shake the mojito: Over-shaking the mojito will dilute it and make it less flavorful. Shake the mojito just until the ingredients are combined.
- Serve the mojito over ice: Mojitos are typically served over ice in a highball glass.
Conclusion:
The mojito is a classic cocktail that is perfect for any occasion. It is easy to make and can be customized to your own taste. With its refreshing flavor and beautiful presentation, the mojito is sure to be a hit at your next party or gathering.
