Tart, juicy, and so happy, the pomegranate arils dance in the bubbles!

Provided by Kare for Kitchen Treaty

Time 10m

Number Of Ingredients 5

1/4 cup pomegranate juice
1/4 cup freshly squeezed blood orange juice (from about 1 medium blood orange)
1 teaspoon sugar per glass (optional)
2 cups Prosecco sparkling wine (or champagne/sparkling wine of your choice)
Additional blood orange slices & pomegranate arils for garnish

Steps:

  • Set out 4 champagne flutes - if they're chilled, all the better! Divide juices between each glass (about 1 tablespoon of each type of juice per glass). Add sugar, if using, and stir until dissolved. Fill the cups almost to the top with Prosecco. Pour slowly - there will be fizz! Drop in a few pomegranate arils and top with an orange slice. Serve.

Tips:

  • Choose fresh, ripe blood oranges. Look for oranges that are deep in color and have a smooth, blemish-free skin. Avoid oranges that are soft or have any signs of bruising.
  • Use a sharp knife to cut the oranges. This will help to prevent the oranges from becoming bruised or damaged.
  • Remove the pith from the oranges. The pith is the white, spongy part of the orange that is located between the skin and the flesh. It can be bitter and unpleasant to eat, so it is best to remove it before using the oranges in cocktails.
  • Use a variety of citrus fruits in your cocktails. In addition to blood oranges, you can also use grapefruit, lemons, and limes. This will help to create a more complex and flavorful cocktail.
  • Experiment with different types of champagne. There are many different types of champagne available, so feel free to experiment until you find one that you like. Some good options include Brut, Extra Brut, and Rosé.
  • Garnish your cocktails with fresh fruit or herbs. This will help to add a touch of elegance and sophistication to your drinks.

Conclusion:

Blood orange champagne cocktails are a refreshing and delicious way to enjoy the flavors of blood oranges and champagne. They are perfect for any occasion, from a casual get-together to a formal party. With a little creativity, you can easily create your own unique blood orange champagne cocktail that is sure to impress your guests.
