Tips:

  • Don't overcook the berries and apples. You want them to be soft, but not mushy. Cook them just until they start to soften and release their juices.
  • Use a variety of nuts and seeds. This will give your crunch a more interesting flavor and texture. You can use chopped walnuts, pecans, almonds, sunflower seeds, or pumpkin seeds.
  • Don't overmix the topping. You want it to be crumbly, not doughy. Mix it just until the ingredients are combined.
  • Bake the crunch until the topping is golden brown. This will give it a nice crispy texture.
  • Serve the crunch warm or at room temperature. It's best when it's fresh out of the oven, but it's also good at room temperature.
