COWBOY STEW II

I learned this recipe in the Boy Scouts and it is the perfect recipe for guys living on their own. It's quick and easy and very difficult to mess up. If you have a slow cooker, let it stew for a day or so. You'll be ready to go out and herd cattle after eating this! Serve with large pieces of crusty white bread.

TEXAS COWBOY STEW

Texas Cowboy Stew image

Hearty, filling and man-pleasing describes this stew. Link sausage, cumin, chilies, and chili powder is what gives this soup its Southwest flavor. This dish is quick, easy, and tastes best when it simmers in a slow cooker or even on the stove all day. Bake some Mexican cornbread, toss a simple green salad, and you have a great meal.

COWBOY STEW

I created this recipe when it was cold outside a couple of years ago... wanted something sort of like chili, but with the comfort food feel of a roast. This is yummy and can easily be heated with jalepenos for adults or dialed down a bit for kids. My family loves this dish, and it's so easy to fill the crock pot and come home to great smells and flavors for dinner.

COWBOY STEW

Cowboy Stew image

This is a delicious and easy meal that my family loves. Just fire up the crock pot, toss in the ingredients, wait 4 hours, and dinner's ready. It's good with tortilla chips, salsa, and sour cream on the side. Also tasty rolled up in tortilla shells with a little Mexican cheese. Or you can eat it just as it is!

Tips:

  • Choose the right beef: Chuck roast or stew meat are great options for this recipe. They're both tough cuts of meat that become tender when cooked slowly.
  • Brown the beef: Browning the beef before adding it to the stew helps to develop flavor and color.
  • Use a variety of vegetables: This recipe calls for carrots, celery, and potatoes, but you can also add other vegetables like green beans, corn, or peas.
  • Use a good quality broth: The broth is the base of the stew, so it's important to use a good quality broth. You can use beef broth, chicken broth, or vegetable broth.
  • Season the stew well: Salt, pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder are all good seasonings for this stew. You can also add other spices like chili powder, cumin, or paprika.
  • Simmer the stew for at least 1 hour: This will allow the flavors to develop and the meat to become tender.
  • Serve the stew with a side of bread or crackers: This will help to soak up the delicious broth.

Conclusion:

Cowboy stew is a hearty and flavorful dish that is perfect for a cold winter day. It's easy to make and can be tailored to your own taste. So next time you're looking for a comforting and delicious meal, give cowboy stew a try!
