Time 15m

Yield 6 serving(s)

Number Of Ingredients 6

4 cups cooked Brussels sprouts
1 egg, beaten
3/4 cup dry breadcrumbs
1 teaspoon italian seasoning
oil
1/4 cup cheese

Steps:

  • Mix Italian seasoning into bread crumbs.
  • Dip Brussels sprouts into egg and roll into crumb mixture and fry in hot deep fat fryer (380 degrees) until brown.
  • Sprinkle with cheese and serve.

Tips:

  • Choose fresh Brussels sprouts: Look for sprouts that are bright green and tightly packed. Avoid any that are yellowing or have brown spots.
  • Trim the Brussels sprouts: Cut off the stem end and any wilted or damaged leaves.
  • Blanch the Brussels sprouts: This will help them retain their color and crispness. To blanch, bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add the Brussels sprouts and cook for 2-3 minutes, or until they are bright green and tender-crisp. Drain the sprouts and immediately transfer them to a bowl of ice water to stop the cooking process.
  • Bread the Brussels sprouts: There are a few different ways to bread Brussels sprouts. You can use a traditional breadcrumb coating, or you can try something different, such as panko breadcrumbs, crushed crackers, or even cornmeal. To bread the sprouts, first dip them in flour, then egg, and then the breadcrumb mixture. Make sure the sprouts are evenly coated.
  • Fry the Brussels sprouts: Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the breaded Brussels sprouts and cook for 3-4 minutes per side, or until they are golden brown and crispy. Drain the sprouts on paper towels before serving.

Conclusion:

Breaded Brussels sprouts are a delicious and easy-to-make side dish that is perfect for any occasion. They are crispy, flavorful, and packed with nutrients.
