1/2 pound lean ground beef
1 cup chopped onions
1/2 cup chopped green bell pepper
1 cup sliced fresh mushrooms
1 teaspoon garlic salt
2 tablespoons dark brown sugar
2 cups cooked rice, medium grain (cooked in chicken broth)
2 cans refrigerated crescent rolls
2 cups shredded cheese, Mexican style with jalapenos
1 package Canadian bacon

Steps:

  • In a heavy skillet, add breakfast sausage, beef, onions, bell peppers, and mushrooms. Cook over medium heat on stove until the meat is no longer pink and the vegetables are tender. Add salt, brown sugar, and rice, and mix well. Remove from heat and add 1 cup shredded cheese and mix well.

The crescent roll points should be hanging over the edges. Place a scoop of rice and meat mixture evenly on wide edges of crescent roll. Sprinkle 1/2 cup shredded cheese evenly over meat and rice mixture. Bring points up over filling and tuck under center bases. The filling will not be completely covered with crescent rolls. GLO'S SAUSAGE FRIED RICE

Glo's Sausage Fried Rice image

This is an easy-to-prepare fried rice dished passed down by my Japanese mother. You won't find anything like it in the restaurants. Every time we have a family get-together or a covered dish luncheon at work, I am always requested to bring this rice.

Time 40m

Yield 8

Number Of Ingredients 11

1 pound ground pork sausage
5 eggs, beaten
3 tablespoons vegetable oil
½ head cabbage, cored and shredded
3 carrots, chopped
6 cups cooked white rice, cold
¼ cup soy sauce, or to taste
1 (14.5 ounce) can bean sprouts, drained
1 (6 ounce) package frozen green peas, thawed
ground black pepper to taste
3 green onions, chopped

Steps:

  • In a skillet over medium-high heat, cook the sausage until evenly browned. Drain, and remove sausage from the pan. In the same pan, using the remaining coating of grease from the sausage, scramble the eggs, stirring frequently until cooked through. Set aside.
  • Heat the oil in a very large skillet or electric skillet over medium-high heat. Stir fry the cabbage and carrots just until the cabbage has wilted. Add the cold rice, and fry, stirring so that there are no clumps. Mix in the sausage and pour in some soy sauce. Stir in bean sprouts, peas, and eggs, mixing well so there are no big chunks of egg. Season with pepper, and stir in green onions just before removing from the heat. Adjust soy sauce to taste, and serve.

BREAKFAST FRIED RICE

My cousin started this recipe when we were Tweens and I kept on making it when I moved away. Now I work as a cook and I have to make this everytime I work for co-workers and customers.

Categories     One Dish Meal

Time 30m

Yield 1 serving(s)

Number Of Ingredients 8

4 slices bacon, diced
1/2 cup mushroom, sliced
1/4 cup green onion, sliced
1/4 cup green pepper, diced can use 1/2 Red Pepper too
1 cup cooked rice, cooled over night if possible
garlic powder, to taste
soy sauce, to taste
1 egg, beaten can use 2 if you want

Steps:

  • In a frying pan over medium heat cook bacon until 1/2 cooked, drain off the fat. You only want to drain when half cooked because it add so much flavor to the end dish.
  • Add mushrooms, green pepper and green onion. Saute a couple minutes, stirring from time to time.
  • When you are ready to add the rice the bacon should be almost fully cooked Add rice, sprinkle on garlic powder, and soy sauce, add beaten egg, and stir occasionally until rice is hot and egg is cooked.
  • Don't be too shy with the garlic powder, It adds a lot of flavor, actually when I make it for myself I prefer more garlic powder than my serving dish. One cashier likes it with out the soy and garlic another with out soy. The one who likes it plain eats hers with tabasco sauce. I usually shake it all over the rice, then same with the soy.

Tips:

  • For the best flavor, use high-quality breakfast sausage. Look for sausage that is made with real pork and spices, and avoid sausage that is made with fillers or extenders.
  • If you don't have any breakfast sausage, you can substitute ground pork or bacon.
  • Use day-old rice for this recipe. Freshly cooked rice will be too soft and mushy.
  • If you don't have any day-old rice, you can cook fresh rice and then spread it out on a baking sheet to cool and dry for about 30 minutes before using it in the recipe.
  • Be sure to chop the vegetables into small pieces so that they cook evenly.
  • Use a large skillet or wok to cook the fried rice. This will help to prevent the rice from sticking to the pan.
  • Cook the rice over high heat, stirring constantly, until it is heated through and slightly browned.
  • Add the eggs to the pan and cook them until they are scrambled.
  • Add the vegetables and cook them until they are tender.
  • Add the breakfast sausage and cook it until it is browned.
  • Stir in the soy sauce, oyster sauce, and sesame oil.
  • Serve immediately.

Conclusion:

Breakfast sausage fried rice is a quick and easy meal that is perfect for busy weeknights. It is also a great way to use up leftover rice. This recipe is packed with flavor and protein, and it is sure to be a hit with your family and friends.
