Tips:

  • Use room temperature ingredients. This will help the cake batter to come together more smoothly and evenly.
  • Cream the butter and sugar together until light and fluffy. This will help to incorporate air into the batter, which will make the cake lighter and more tender.
  • Add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition. This will help to prevent the batter from curdling.
  • Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined. Overmixing the batter will make the cake tough.
  • Pour the batter into a greased and floured bundt pan. Do not fill the pan more than two-thirds full, as the cake will rise during baking.
  • Bake the cake at 325 degrees Fahrenheit for 60-70 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  • Let the cake cool in the pan for 10 minutes before inverting it onto a wire rack to cool completely.
  • Dust the cake with powdered sugar or glaze it with a simple glaze made from powdered sugar and milk.
