Provided by Rachael Ray : Food Network

Time 30m

Yield 4 servings

Number Of Ingredients 24

1 pork tenderloin, trimmed
3 skinless, boneless chicken breasts (1 1/4 to 1 1/3 pounds)
EVOO, for drizzling
Montreal Grill Steak Seasoning
Salt and freshly ground pepper
1 cup drained giardiniera
Four 10-to-12-inch white Italian sub rolls
Sliced provolone
Chopped romaine lettuce
Sliced tomato
Thinly sliced red onion
Hoagie Dressing, recipe follows
3 tablespoons red wine vinegar
1 tablespoon finely chopped fresh basil
1 tablespoon finely chopped fresh flat-leaf parsley
2 teaspoons finely chopped fresh thyme
1 rounded teaspoon superfine sugar
1 large clove garlic, grated
1 shallot, minced or 3 tablespoons grated red onion
1/2 small Fresno chile pepper, finely chopped
Juice of 1/2 lemon
1/2 cup EVOO
1 rounded tablespoon Dijon mustard
Salt and freshly ground pepper

Steps:

  • Preheat the oven to 500 degrees F.
  • Drizzle the pork tenderloin and the chicken breasts with EVOO and sprinkle with the seasoning blend, salt and pepper. Place the pork on a rack set over a rimmed baking sheet and roast in the oven for 10 to 12 minutes. Reduce the heat to 425 degrees F and roast until a thermometer inserted into the thickest part of the pork registers 145 to 155 degrees F, about 15 more minutes (do not open the oven while it's cooking). Transfer the pork to a cutting board and let rest 5 minutes, if desired. Then very thinly slice on an angle.
  • Meanwhile, heat a cast-iron skillet or griddle over medium-high heat. Add the chicken and cook, flipping occasionally, until firm but not tight and the juices run clear, 12 to 15 minutes. Transfer to a cutting board and let rest 5 minutes, if desired. Then thinly slice on an angle.
  • Pulse the giardiniera in a food processor until finely chopped.
  • Layer the chicken and pork on the rolls and top with the cheese, lettuce, tomato and red onion. Scatter the giardiniera relish over the top, then drizzle with the hoagie dressing.
  • In a mixing bowl, combine the vinegar, herbs, sugar, garlic, shallot, chile pepper and lemon juice. Whisk in the EVOO in a slow stream. Add the mustard and season with salt and pepper, then whisk until emulsified.

The first time I ever had "buffalo wings", I just about flipped!! What an awesome idea that lady from Buffalo, New York had!!! Ever since then, I've used the same concept making dips, pizzas, salads, and my latest concoction...HOAGIES! They are REALLY good!!

Time 35m

Yield 4 serving(s)

Number Of Ingredients 15

4 hoagie rolls, split in half lengthwise
3/4 cup butter, softened
2 tablespoons minced garlic
2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley
1 (20 ounce) bag southwestern-seasoned chicken breast, strips 7 serving size
1 (1/2 cup) bottle Frank's red hot sauce, original or Buffalo Wing flavor
4 tablespoons butter
1 tablespoon sweet baby ray's barbecue sauce
1/2 teaspoon chili powder
8 slices muenster cheese
2 cups shredded lettuce
salt and pepper
2 tablespoons finely chopped celery
12 slices tomatoes, thin slices, I like Roma's (plum)
8 tablespoons thick chunky blue cheese dressing, I like Marie's

Steps:

  • In frying pan combine chicken, hot sauce, 4 Tbl. butter, bbq sauce and chili powder.
  • Heat til simmering. Simmer on very low.
  • In small bowl, combine 1 1/2 sticks soft butter, garlic and parsley.
  • Spread insides of hoagie rolls with butter mixture, (both cut sides.).
  • Place open-faced on cookie sheet and broil til lightly toasted. Or 4 minutes at 400º.
  • Top each bottom half of hoagie rolls with meat mixture, (pile high), then top each with 2 slices muenster cheese.
  • Return to oven and bake 2 more minutes.
  • Remove from oven and top each with lettuce tossed with celery, and a pinch each of salt and pepper.
  • Top each with 3 tomato slices.
  • Top each with 2 Tbl. blue cheese dressing. Place on top halves of toasted hoagie rolls. Cut in half on the bias. Makes 4 hoagies.
  • *I use Tyson(fully cooked)Southwest Chicken Breast Strips for this this, but it just would NOT go into the computor right.
  • **Note: You can make these with a purchased rotisserie chicken from your local grocery store, too. Just pick the meat off, and cut it into pieces. Leftover chicken, even BBQ'ed, also works well for this. In a PINCH, canned chicken (2-3 large cans) drained, also works.
  • Just use whatever you have on hand for convenience or have a taste for!

Tips:

  • Use high-quality ingredients: Fresh, high-quality ingredients will make a big difference in the flavor of your buffalo chicken hoagie. Look for boneless, skinless chicken breasts that are free of any blemishes or bruises. Use a good-quality buffalo sauce that is not too vinegary or sweet. And be sure to use fresh, crispy hoagie buns.
  • Cook the chicken properly: The chicken should be cooked until it is no longer pink in the center, but it should not be overcooked, or it will become dry and tough. If you are using a meat thermometer, the internal temperature of the chicken should reach 165 degrees Fahrenheit.
  • Make your own buffalo sauce: If you have the time, making your own buffalo sauce is a great way to control the flavor and heat level. There are many different recipes available online, so you can find one that suits your taste.
  • Use a variety of toppings: The toppings you use on your buffalo chicken hoagie can really make a difference in the flavor. Some popular toppings include blue cheese dressing, ranch dressing, celery, carrots, and onions. You can also add other toppings that you like, such as bacon, avocado, or tomatoes.
  • Serve the hoagie immediately: Buffalo chicken hoagies are best served immediately after they are made. The chicken will start to get soggy if it sits for too long. If you need to make the hoagies ahead of time, you can cook the chicken and buffalo sauce in advance and then assemble the hoagies just before serving.

Conclusion:

Buffalo chicken hoagies are a delicious and easy-to-make sandwich that is perfect for a quick lunch or dinner. With a few simple tips, you can make a buffalo chicken hoagie that is sure to please everyone at your table. So next time you are looking for a quick and easy meal, give buffalo chicken hoagies a try. You won't be disappointed!
