RESTAURANT-STYLE BUFFALO CHICKEN WINGS

This is similar to the hot wings recipe served at a popular restaurant chain. If you have ever had them, you have to love them.

Time 2h

Yield 5

Number Of Ingredients 10

½ cup all-purpose flour
¼ teaspoon paprika
¼ teaspoon cayenne pepper
¼ teaspoon salt
10 chicken wings
oil for deep frying
¼ cup butter
¼ cup hot sauce
1 dash ground black pepper
1 dash garlic powder

Steps:

  • In a small bowl mix together the flour, paprika, cayenne pepper and salt. Place chicken wings in a large nonporous glass dish or bowl and sprinkle flour mixture over them until they are evenly coated. Cover dish or bowl and refrigerate for 60 to 90 minutes.

Combine the butter, hot sauce, pepper and garlic powder in a small saucepan over low heat. Stir together and heat until butter is melted and mixture is well blended. Remove from heat and reserve for serving.
  • Fry coated wings in hot oil for 10 to 15 minutes, or until parts of wings begin to turn brown. Remove from heat, place wings in serving bowl, add hot sauce mixture and stir together. Serve.

BUFFALO WINGS LIKE HOOTERS

BUFFALO WINGS LIKE HOOTERS image

Categories     Chicken     Appetizer     Fry

Yield 20 wings

Number Of Ingredients 9

1 cup all-purpose flour
1 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. paprika
1/2 tsp. garlic powder
1/2 tsp. cayenne pepper
1/4 tsp. black pepper
20 chicken wing segments
1/2 cup butter OR margarine
1/2 cup hot sauce (see Notes, below)

Steps:

  • In a shallow dish, combine flour, salt, paprika, garlic powder, and peppers. Coat chicken entirely in the flour mixture; refrigerate coated wings for 1 hour; coat chicken again with remaining flour mixture. In a 2-quart saucepan, heat butter and hot sauce just until butter melts; turn heat to low and keep warm on stove top. Deep-fry chicken, 8 - 10 pieces at a time, in 375 degree oil (vegetable oil, canola oil, or peanut oil) for 13 minutes, turning once or twice. Drain chicken on a wire cooling rack for 30 seconds, then immediately toss fried chicken in buffalo sauce mixture and remove with a slotted spoon. Repeat with remaining chicken. Adjusting the spiciness of the sauce: As is, the recipe produces a medium sauce. To change the amount of spiciness, simply adjust the butter-to-hot sauce-ratio: Mild: Use 3/4 cup butter and 1/4 cup hot sauce. Hot: Use 1/4 cup butter and 3/4 cup hot sauce. Notes: I use Frank's® Buffalo Wing sauce in the recipe, as I enjoy the flavor of Buffalo sauce, but not the heat. If you like spice, you can use regular Frank's® Hot Sauce. I'm sure another hot sauce like Tabasco® would work fine, but Frank's® has a great flavor, not just heat.

Tips:

  • Use fresh chicken wings: Fresh wings are more tender and flavorful than frozen wings.
  • Dry the chicken wings thoroughly: This will help the sauce adhere to the wings.
  • Use a good quality buffalo sauce: There are many different brands of buffalo sauce available, so choose one that you like the taste of.
  • Don't overcook the chicken wings: Overcooked wings will be dry and tough.
  • Serve the chicken wings with your favorite dipping sauce: Ranch dressing, blue cheese dressing, and honey mustard are all popular choices.

Conclusion:

Buffalo wings are a delicious and easy-to-make appetizer or main course. By following these tips, you can make buffalo wings that taste just like Hooters at home. So next time you're looking for a tasty snack or meal, give this recipe a try!
