Tips:

  • Activate the yeast properly: Always check the expiration date on your yeast packet before using it. To activate the yeast, combine it with warm water (110-115°F or 43-46°C) and a pinch of sugar. Let it sit for 5-10 minutes until it becomes foamy. This indicates that the yeast is active and ready to use.
  • Use room temperature ingredients: This will help the dough rise properly. If you're using cold ingredients, the dough will take longer to rise. You can warm up cold ingredients by placing them in a warm place for a few minutes before using them.
  • Knead the dough properly: Kneading the dough helps develop the gluten, which gives the buns their structure. Knead the dough for at least 5-7 minutes, or until it becomes smooth and elastic.
  • Let the dough rise in a warm place: The ideal temperature for rising dough is between 75-85°F (24-29°C). You can let the dough rise in a warm oven with the light on or in a warm spot in your kitchen.
  • Bake the buns until they are golden brown: The buns are done baking when they are golden brown and sound hollow when tapped.

Butterscotch buns are a delicious and easy-to-make treat that can be enjoyed for breakfast, lunch, or dinner.
