Tips:
- Select fresh, tender spinach: Look for spinach with deep green, unwilted leaves for the best flavor and texture.
- Wash spinach thoroughly: Spinach can harbor dirt and grit, so be sure to rinse it well before cooking.
- Don't overcook the spinach: Spinach cooks quickly, so be careful not to overcook it, or it will become limp and mushy. A few minutes in a hot skillet is all it takes.
- Use a good quality butter: Butter adds a rich, creamy flavor to the spinach. Use unsalted butter so you can control the amount of salt in the dish.
- Add lemon juice to taste: Lemon juice brightens the flavor of the spinach and helps to balance the richness of the butter. Start with a small amount and add more to taste.
- Garnish with Parmesan cheese and red pepper flakes: Parmesan cheese adds a salty, nutty flavor to the spinach, while red pepper flakes add a bit of heat. These are both optional garnishes, but they can really elevate the dish.
