Chai Tea Jelly (Jello) With Raspberries image

From Australian BH&G Diabetic Living. Cooking time is freezing time of 4 hours plus time to heat milk. Don't see why you couldn't substitute other berries for the raspberries.

Categories     Gelatin

Time 4h20m

Yield 2 serving(s)

Number Of Ingredients 7

2 tablespoons boiling water
2 teaspoons gelatin powder
400 ml low-fat milk
2 chai tea teabags
2 teaspoons sugar (or granulated sugar substitute)
40 g raspberries (1/3 cup fresh or defrosted frozen)
1 tablespoon mint (small leaves)

Steps:

  • Put water in a small heatproof bowl and sprinkle the gelatine powder over and stir until dissolved and set aside.
  • Put milk in a small saucepan and bring to a simmer over a medium heat.
  • Remove pan from the heat and add tea bags and jiggle and cover and set aside for 5 minutes to steep and then remove tea bags.
  • Add gelatine mixture to milk mixture and stir until combines and then pour into dishes and put in the fridge for 4 hours or until set.
  • Top the jellies with raspberries and mint leaves to serve.

Tips:

  • Use high-quality tea. The quality of the tea leaves you use will have a big impact on the flavor of your gelatin. Look for loose-leaf tea that is fresh and flavorful.
  • Steep the tea properly. Follow the package directions for steeping the tea. This will ensure that the tea has time to release its full flavor.
  • Use gelatin powder. Gelatin powder is easier to use than gelatin sheets. It is also more readily available.
  • Bloom the gelatin. Blooming the gelatin means sprinkling it over the surface of cold water and letting it sit for a few minutes. This will help the gelatin to dissolve more easily.
  • Heat the tea and sugar mixture slowly. Heating the mixture too quickly can cause the gelatin to clump.
  • Strain the mixture. Straining the mixture will remove any solids, such as tea leaves or spices.
  • Pour the mixture into molds. You can use any type of mold you like. Silicone molds are a good option because they are flexible and easy to remove.
  • Chill the gelatin. Chill the gelatin in the refrigerator for at least 4 hours, or overnight.

Conclusion:

Chai tea gelatin is a delicious and refreshing dessert that is perfect for any occasion. It is easy to make and can be customized to your own taste. With a few simple tips, you can make perfect chai tea gelatin every time.
