Number Of Ingredients 15

3 c flour
1 Tbsp baking powder
1 tsp sea salt
1/8-1/2 tsp cayenne pepper, to taste
1/4 tsp fresh ground black pepper
6 oz cheese, cheddar or the like, cut into 1/4" cubes
1/2 c parmesan cheese, grated
1 1/4 c milk
3/4 c sour cream
4 Tbsp butter, melted
1 egg
1/2 tsp granulater garlic or powder
BASTING
2 Tbsp butter, melted
1/2 tsp granulated garlic or powder

Steps:

  • 1. Preheat oven to 350. Grease or spray a 9x5 loaf pan, set aside. Whisk together flour, baking powder, garlic, salt, cayenne and black pepper in a large bowl. Add cheese and toss to coat each piece. Set aside. In a medium bowl whisk together milk, sour cream, butter and egg.
  • 2. Gently stir wet ingredients into dry ingredients...mixing gently until just mixed. Pour into prepared loaf pan and bake 45-55 minutes, or until toothpick inserted comes out with just a few crumbs. Remove from oven, stir together melted basting butter and garlic, brush over top of loaf, cool in pan 5 minutes then remove to cooling rack...allow to cool at least 20 minute before serving. Enjoy! :o)

Tips:

  • For a softer loaf, use a combination of all-purpose flour and bread flour.
  • To make sure the loaf is cooked through, insert a toothpick or skewer into the center. If it comes out clean, the loaf is done.
  • For a cheesy, gooey center, use a combination of cheddar cheese and mozzarella cheese.
  • If you don't have a loaf pan, you can bake the dough in a greased 9x13 inch baking dish.
  • To make the loaf ahead of time, wrap it tightly in plastic wrap and refrigerate for up to 3 days. When ready to bake, let the loaf come to room temperature for 30 minutes before baking.
