Tips:

  • Mise en place: Before you start cooking, measure out all of your ingredients and chop any vegetables. This will help you stay organized and prevent any scrambling.
  • Use a large skillet: This recipe makes a lot of food, so you'll need a large skillet to cook it all in. A 12-inch skillet is a good size.
  • Don't overcrowd the skillet: When you add the chicken to the skillet, make sure it's in a single layer. If the skillet is too crowded, the chicken will steam instead of brown.
  • Cook the chicken in batches: If you have a lot of chicken to cook, you may need to do it in batches. Just remove the cooked chicken from the skillet and set it aside while you cook the rest.
  • Use a variety of vegetables: This recipe calls for bell peppers and corn, but you can use any vegetables you like. Some other good options include zucchini, squash, and mushrooms.
  • Season the chicken and vegetables well: Don't be afraid to add a generous amount of salt and pepper to the chicken and vegetables. This will help them develop flavor.
  • Don't overcook the chicken: The chicken is cooked through when it reaches an internal temperature of 165 degrees Fahrenheit. If you overcook it, it will become dry and tough.
  • Serve immediately: This dish is best served immediately, while the chicken and vegetables are still hot and juicy.

Conclusion:

This Cheesy Southwest Chicken Skillet is a quick and easy meal that's perfect for busy weeknights. It's packed with flavor and protein, and it's a great way to get your daily dose of vegetables. Serve it with your favorite sides, such as rice, beans, or tortillas.
