Time 45m

Number Of Ingredients 11

3 c cherries
1/2 c sugar
1/4 c cornstarch
1 tsp vanilla extract
1/3 c butter, room temperature
2/3 c brown sugar
1/2 c oatmeal
1/2 c flour
1/2 c pecans, in pieces
3/4 tsp cinnamon
1/2 tsp nutmeg

Steps:

  • 1. Preheat oven to 375.
  • 2. Mix together, cherries, sugar, corn starch and vanilla and place in 8x8 inch glass baking dish.
  • 3. Mix together remaining ingredients and sprinkle over top of cherries.
  • 4. Bake for 35 minutes. Serve warm with vanilla ice cream.

Tips:

  • Use fresh cherries. Fresh cherries will give your crisp the best flavor. If you can't find fresh cherries, you can use frozen cherries that have been thawed and drained.
  • Pit the cherries. Before you add the cherries to the crisp, be sure to pit them. You can use a cherry pitter or a sharp knife to remove the pits.
  • Use a variety of nuts. In addition to pecans, you can also use walnuts, almonds, or hazelnuts in your crisp. This will give the crisp a more complex flavor and texture.
  • Don't overcook the crisp. The crisp is done when the topping is golden brown and the cherries are bubbling. If you overcook the crisp, the topping will become dry and the cherries will lose their flavor.
  • Serve the crisp warm. The crisp is best served warm, with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or whipped cream.

Conclusion:

Cherry pecan crisp is a delicious and easy-to-make dessert that is perfect for any occasion. With its sweet and tart cherries, crunchy pecans, and buttery oat topping, this crisp is sure to be a hit with everyone who tries it. So next time you're looking for a dessert that is both delicious and impressive, give cherry pecan crisp a try.
