Tips:

  • Use good quality chocolate for the best flavor. A semi-sweet or dark chocolate is a good choice.
  • If you don't have a candy thermometer, you can test the chocolate to see if it is ready by dropping a small amount into a glass of cold water. If it forms a firm ball, it is ready.
  • Be careful not to overcook the popcorn. If it is overcooked, it will be tough and chewy.
  • If you don't have a microwave, you can melt the chocolate in a double boiler. To do this, fill a saucepan with water and bring it to a simmer. Place a heatproof bowl over the saucepan, making sure that the bottom of the bowl does not touch the water. Add the chocolate to the bowl and stir until melted.
  • If you want to make the popcorn ahead of time, you can store it in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2 days. When you are ready to serve it, reheat it in the microwave for a few seconds.
