Number Of Ingredients 10

2 cups all-purpose flour, (spooned and leveled)
1 tablespoon pumpkin-pie spice
1 teaspoon baking soda
3/4 teaspoon salt
1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter, room temperature
1 1/4 cups sugar
1 large egg
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
1 cup canned pumpkin puree
1 package (12 ounces) semisweet chocolate chips

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Line bottom and sides of a 9-by-13-inch baking pan with foil, leaving an overhang on all sides. In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, pie spice, baking soda, and salt; set aside.

Tips:

  • For a smoother filling, blend the pumpkin until completely smooth before adding it to the batter.
  • Be sure to use a baking dish that is at least 9x13 inches in size, or the bars may be too thick.
  • If you don't have a food processor, you can finely chop the pecans by hand.
  • For a richer flavor, use dark chocolate chips instead of semisweet.
  • These bars are best served at room temperature, so let them cool for at least 30 minutes before slicing and serving.

Conclusion:

These chocolate pumpkin chess squares are a delicious and easy-to-make dessert that is perfect for any occasion. With a creamy pumpkin filling, a rich chocolate crust, and a pecan crumble topping, these bars are sure to be a hit with everyone who tries them.
