Delicious Christmas Ham with Cranberry-Orange Glaze

Christmas is a time for loved ones, joy, and of course, delicious food. Every household has its staple dish for Christmas dinner, but what if you want to try something new this year? This recipe for a baked ham with cranberry-oranage glaze is easy to make and sure to be a hit among everyone at your table.

Here are some tips for making this Christmas ham recipe:
  • Make sure to choose a fresh ham. You can buy this already cut or ask your butcher to cut you a piece of this cut. A good rule of the amount of ham you'll need to buy is 1/2 to 3/4 of a cup per person.
  • You can choose what kind of ham to buy, either a bone-in or boneless version. For this recipe, you can use either one. The bone-in ham will give more flavors to your dish, but it is slightly more expensive and takes longer to cook. It's your choice.
  • You can cook the ham in the morning before your guests arrive, allowing it to cool down before adding the glaze. Then put it back into the roasting pan and coat it with the glaze. Then return the ham to the warm part of your refrigerator and cook it just before you serve dinner.
  • This ham is moist and flavorful, with a perfect glaze. Cranberry-Orange Glaze also complements the ham perfectly. It can be served as a buffet or as an entrée, and the glaze can be made in advance.
  • Cook this ham at 325 degrees Fahrenheit until the meat thermometer inserts into the thickest part of the ham and it says 150 degrees Fahrenheit. Then take the ham out of the roasting pan and let it sit for about 15 minutes, covered, to allow the juices to redistribute. Use these 15 minutes to prepare the cranberry-oranage glaze.
  • The brown sugar in the glaze helps it caramelizes when it's being brushed on the ham. So make sure to baste the ham several times with this glaze as it cooks to get a delicious crust.

Conclusion:

In conclusion, this Christmas ham recipe is sure to be a hit at your holiday table, whether it will be a formal dinner or an open house. It is a simple recipe to follow and the taste is worth all the effort. The combination of the flavors of the ham and the glaze is perfect for a holiday feast. You can follow the whole recipe or tweak it by adding other spices based on your family tradition. Anyway, this Christmas ham is a special treat for any family.
