1 3/4 cups water
1/2 cup cornmeal
2 teaspoons salt
1/2 cup molasses
2 tablespoons shortening
1 package active dry yeast
1/2 cup warm water
1 cup whole wheat flour
3 1/2 cups bread flour
1 lb process American cheese, cubed

Steps:

  • In a medium sauce pan, stir together water, cornmeal and salt.
  • Bring the mixture to a boil, stirring constantly, until it thickens.
  • Remove from heat and stir in the molasses and shortening.
  • Set aside to cool.
  • In a large bowl, dissolve the yeast in the warm water (water should be 110 degrees F/45 degrees C).

1/2 cup warm water (110° to 115°)
1 cup sour cream
1/2 cup butter or margarine, melted
1/2 cup sugar
2 large eggs, lightly beaten
1/2 teaspoon salt
4 cups all-purpose flour
FILLING:
2 packages (8 ounces each) cream cheese, softened
1 large egg, lightly beaten
3/4 cup sugar
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
1/2 teaspoon salt
GLAZE:
2 cups confectioners' sugar
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
3 to 4 tablespoons whole milk
