Chunky Blue Cheese Dressing or Dip image

This recipe came from a friend of mine who teaches Home Ec. Its so rich and delicious. I love the chunky texture of this dressing. It also works nicely as a dip for vegetables. If you are as big a fan of blue cheese as I am, I think you will like this, too.

Time 10m

Number Of Ingredients 8

3 Tbsp buttermilk
3 Tbsp sour cream
2 Tbsp mayonnaise
2 tsp white wine vinegar
1/2 tsp sugar
1/4 tsp garlic powder
sea salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste
4 oz blue cheese

Steps:

  • 1. Stir together buttermilk, sour cream, mayonnaise, vinegar, sugar, and garlic powder until well blended. Season to taste with salt and pepper. Set aside.
  • 2. In a small bowl, mash blue cheese with a fork until mixture resembles very large-curd cottage cheese. Work until lumps are the size you prefer. Gently fold into set aside mixture. Chill and serve over green salad or as a dip for vegetables.

Tips:

  • Use a high-quality blue cheese. The better the cheese, the better the dip will be. Look for a blue cheese that is creamy and has a strong flavor.
  • Crumble the blue cheese finely. This will help it distribute evenly throughout the dip.
  • Use a variety of cheeses. In addition to blue cheese, you can also use cream cheese, cheddar cheese, or goat cheese. This will add depth and flavor to the dip.
  • Add some herbs and spices. Garlic powder, onion powder, and paprika are all good choices. You can also add fresh herbs, such as chives or parsley.
  • Chill the dip before serving. This will help it to firm up and make it easier to scoop.
  • Serve the dip with a variety of dippers. Crackers, vegetables, and bread cubes are all good options.

Conclusion:

Chunky blue cheese dip is a delicious and versatile appetizer that is perfect for any occasion. It is easy to make and can be tailored to your own taste.
