CITRUS SWEET LEMONADE

Citrus Sweet Lemonade image

This is my dad's favorite juice to make. My dad's lemon tree has been around since before I can remember and he used to always buy oranges in order to make this drink almost every night. I don't know why I waited until now to finally ask him for the recipe. But here it is! Sometimes my dad mixes it up by adding some lime juice. Update: Just a note to myself for future experiments. There is a restaurant here called Tucano's that makes Brazilian Lemonade (lime lemonade). I learned a while ago from a former waitress that the secret ingredient is sweetened condensed milk. So in the future I'll try adding some. (They also offer flavors like Raspberry, Guava, Mango, Pineapple and Strawberry Brazilian Lemonade, so you might want to try other flavors in place of the orange.)

Tips:

  • Choose the right lemons: Use fresh, ripe lemons for the best flavor. Look for lemons that are heavy for their size, with smooth, thin skin.
  • Zest the lemons before juicing: Zesting the lemons before juicing them will add a burst of citrus flavor to your lemonade. Use a fine grater to remove only the yellow zest, avoiding the bitter white pith.
  • Use filtered water: Filtered water will help to remove any impurities that could affect the taste of your lemonade. If you don't have filtered water, you can boil tap water for 1 minute and then let it cool before using.
  • Add sugar to taste: The amount of sugar you add to your lemonade is a matter of personal preference. Start with a small amount and then add more to taste.
  • Chill the lemonade before serving: Chilled lemonade is more refreshing than warm lemonade. Chill the lemonade for at least 1 hour before serving, or overnight for the best flavor.
  • Garnish with lemon slices or mint: Garnish your lemonade with lemon slices or mint leaves for a refreshing and flavorful touch.

Conclusion:

Homemade lemonade is a refreshing and delicious drink that can be enjoyed by people of all ages. With just a few simple ingredients, you can make a delicious batch of lemonade that is perfect for any occasion. Try experimenting with different flavors, such as adding berries, herbs, or spices, to create your own unique lemonade recipes.
