SPICED ORANGE TEA, HOT OR COLD

Spiced Orange Tea, Hot or Cold image

I found this recipe in a book I picked up at a thrift shop. I'm not really a tea drinker so like to find ways to get those good anti-oxidants without the tea taste. This is all orange & spice so I quite liked it. I didn't have whole cloves so made mine with a dash of ground cloves instead. I had one cup warm & then put the rest in the fridge to have iced, it was nice both ways.

  • Use Fresh, Cold Water: Always start with fresh, cold water to ensure the best flavor and quality.
  • Steep for an Extended Period: Cold brewing requires a longer steeping time compared to hot brewing. Aim for at least 12 hours or overnight for optimal flavor extraction.
  • Experiment with Different Ratios: Adjust the tea-to-water ratio to suit your preferred strength. A good starting point is 1 cup of tea leaves to 4 cups of water.
  • Use a Strainer or Cheesecloth: Strain the tea into a separate container to remove any tea leaves or sediment before serving.
  • Sweeten to Taste: Add sweeteners like sugar, honey, or flavored syrups according to your preference. You can also add a splash of milk or cream for a creamy texture.
  • Chill and Enjoy: Refrigerate the cold tea for several hours or overnight to allow the flavors to fully develop. Serve chilled over ice or straight from the refrigerator.
