Yield 1 Casserole

Number Of Ingredients 4

1 (2 lb) package frozen hash browns (diced)
2 (10 1/2 ounce) cans cream of celery soup
2 (8 ounce) cartons onion and cream cheese with chives
1 cup cheddar cheese

Steps:

  • Mix soups and cream cheeses in large bowl.
  • Microwave for 3-4 minutes, stirring occasionally, until cream cheese is melted.

  • Pour into greased 9x13 baking pan and bake at 400, uncovered for 35-40 minutes.
  • Top with cheddar cheese, and bake for 3-5 minutes longer until cheese is melted.

Tips:

  • When selecting potatoes for hash brown casserole, choose firm, starchy varieties like Russet or Yukon Gold. These potatoes hold their shape well and create a crispy crust when browned.
  • For a more flavorful casserole, use a combination of shredded and diced potatoes. The shredded potatoes will provide a light and fluffy texture, while the diced potatoes will add a chewy bite.
  • Be sure to season the potatoes well with salt and pepper. You can also add other seasonings, such as garlic powder, onion powder, or paprika, to taste.
  • If you're using frozen hash browns, thaw them completely before using. This will help them cook evenly and prevent the casserole from becoming watery.
  • To achieve a crispy crust, make sure to press the hash browns firmly into the bottom of the baking dish. You can also sprinkle some grated Parmesan cheese on top before baking.
  • Hash brown casserole can be made ahead of time and refrigerated for up to 24 hours before baking. This makes it a great option for busy weeknights or potluck gatherings.

Conclusion:

Hash brown casserole is a versatile and delicious dish that can be enjoyed for breakfast, lunch, or dinner. With its crispy crust, fluffy interior, and cheesy flavor, it's sure to be a hit with everyone at the table. So next time you're looking for a comforting and satisfying meal, give hash brown casserole a try!
