CRAB SALAD SANDWICH (BROWN BAG RECIPE)

Crab Salad Sandwich (Brown Bag Recipe) image

This is a very simple recipe I threw together...nothing fancy...just a brown bag recipe to give a little variety at the office...I get so tired of ordinary sandwiches. I like to take this spread separately in a tupperware container and then take along toasted wheat bread in a ziploc and slices of tomatoes in another ziploc bag and assemble at work so it is not soggy. Very easy and really quite tasty. I suppose you could also add olives if you like them.

Time 5m

Yield 1 serving(s)

Number Of Ingredients 5

1 cup imitation crabmeat, chopped medium fine
1/4 cup white onion, chopped fine
1/3 cup fresh grated parmesan cheese
1/3 cup light mayonnaise
2 slices whole wheat bread, toasted

Steps:

  • Mix first four ingredients together until well combined.
  • Serve as sandwich on bread of your choice, (I prefer toasted bread, though you could use english muffin or bagel.).
  • Add any additional toppings, such as tomatoes, olives etc at time of serving.

Tips:

  • Choose fresh crab meat: Fresh crab meat has a sweeter and more delicate flavor than canned or frozen crab meat. If you're using canned crab meat, be sure to rinse it well to remove any excess salt.
  • Use a variety of vegetables: The vegetables in a crab salad sandwich add crunch, color, and flavor. Some popular vegetables to use include celery, red onion, cucumber, and avocado.
  • Add some herbs and spices: Herbs and spices can help to brighten up the flavor of a crab salad sandwich. Some popular herbs and spices to use include dill, parsley, chives, and Old Bay seasoning.
  • Use a good quality mayonnaise: The mayonnaise is one of the key ingredients in a crab salad sandwich, so it's important to use a good quality mayonnaise. Look for a mayonnaise that is made with fresh eggs and oil.
  • Don't overmix the crab salad: Overmixing the crab salad can make it tough and rubbery. Gently mix the ingredients together until they are just combined.
  • Serve the crab salad sandwich immediately: Crab salad sandwiches are best served immediately after they are made. The bread will get soggy if you wait too long to serve them.

Conclusion:

Crab salad sandwiches are a delicious and easy-to-make summer meal. They're perfect for a picnic, a potluck, or a quick lunch or dinner. With a few simple tips, you can make a crab salad sandwich that is sure to impress your friends and family.
