Time 35m

Number Of Ingredients 10

1/4 c diced onions
1 Tbsp butter
4 c frozen sweet corn
4 slice fully cooked bacon, crumbled
1 c heavy cream
1/2 c chicken broth
1 Tbsp all purpose flour
1/4 tsp pepper
1/4 c grated parmesan cheese
2 Tbsp minced fresh parsleuy

Steps:

  • 1. Saute onion in butter for 2 to 3 minutes. Add corn and bacon. Cook an additional 2 to 3 minutes.
  • 2. Stir together cream, broth and flour.
  • 3. Pour cream mixture into corn and bring to a boil. Simmer on low 10-12 minutes until sauce thickens.
  • 4. Stir in pepper, Parmesan cheese and parsley before serving.

Tips:

  • Fresh is best: Use fresh sweet corn for the best flavor. If you can't find fresh corn, frozen corn is a good substitute.
  • Choose the right cream: You can use heavy cream, half-and-half, or milk for this recipe. If you use milk, the sauce will be thinner. If you want a richer sauce, use heavy cream.
  • Don't overcook the corn: Cook the corn just until it is tender. Overcooking will make the corn tough.
  • Season to taste: Add salt, pepper, and other seasonings to taste. You can also add a pinch of cayenne pepper for a little heat.
  • Serve immediately: Creamed sweet corn is best served immediately. However, it can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.

Conclusion:

Creamed sweet corn is a delicious and versatile side dish that can be enjoyed by people of all ages. It is a great way to use up fresh corn, and it can be made in just a few minutes. Whether you serve it with grilled chicken, pork, or fish, or simply enjoy it on its own, creamed sweet corn is sure to be a hit.
