CREAMY BEEF BAKE

Creamy Beef Bake image

This recipe is SIMPLE and CHEAP! It holds fond memories for me and my husband as, it was the only thing I could cook when we were first married! I was so proud of it and (lucky for him) my husband loved it! It is basically a knock off hamburger helper. Its called a "bake" but I never do. We just eat it as a skillet meal. (What did I know I could barely cook?) This whole meal for 4-6 will cost about $3.00. Use the store brand mac 'n cheese and you can come in close to that amount. My kids love this dinner. I serve it with a steamed green vegetable.

Number Of Ingredients 14

2 c. uncooked egg noodles
1/2 lb. lean ground beef
2 tbsp. finely chopped onion
1 can (8 oz.) tomato sauce
1/4 tsp. sugar
1/8 tsp. salt
1/8 tsp. garlic salt
Dash pepper
1/4 c. cream-style cottage cheese
2 oz. cream cheese, softened
1 tbsp. thinly sliced green onion
1 tbsp. chopped green pepper
1 tbsp. sour cream
2 tbsp. grated Parmesan cheese

Steps:

  • 1. Cook noodles according to package directions. Meanwhile, in a large skillet, cook beefv and onion until meat is no longer pink; drain. Remove from the heat; stir in the tomato sauce, sugar, salt, garlic salt and pepper. 2. In a small bowl, combine the cottage cheese, cream cheese, green onion, green pepper and sour cream. 3. Drain noodles; place half of noodles in a greased 1-qt. baking dish. Spoon half of beef mixture over the top. Layer with cottage cheese mixture and remaining noodles. Top with remaining beef mixture; sprinkle with Parmesan cheese. 4. Cover and bake at 350° for 20-25minutes or until heated through.

Tips:

  • Choose the right cut of beef: Chuck roast or rump roast are good options, as they are both relatively inexpensive and have a good amount of flavor. You can also use a more expensive cut of beef, such as ribeye or strip steak, if you prefer.
  • Brown the beef before baking: This will help to develop the flavor and create a nice crust on the outside of the beef.
  • Use a flavorful sauce: The sauce is what really makes this dish, so be sure to use a sauce that you enjoy. There are many different recipes for creamy beef sauce available online or in cookbooks.
  • Don't overcook the beef: The beef should be cooked until it is tender, but not tough. Overcooked beef will be dry and chewy.
  • Serve with your favorite sides: Creamy beef bake can be served with a variety of sides, such as mashed potatoes, rice, or vegetables.

Conclusion:

Creamy beef bake is a classic comfort food dish that is easy to make and always a hit with the family. With a few simple ingredients and a little bit of time, you can create a delicious and satisfying meal that everyone will enjoy.
