OVEN-BAKED POTATO FRIES
This is a great recipe to get kids started learning how to cook. Take a day, take a week, teach them new things each day. We used this for our 'at-home' camp week. Taught the kids how to cook one new thing each day for an entire week.

I made this side last night from a Rachael Ray recipe. I've tweaked it a little based on my initial experience. It's super fast and easy. Any other ideas on how to tweak more would be great!

Steps:
- Heat oven to 550 degrees (or as high as your oven goes).
- Halve each potato, then cut each half in 5 slices lengthwise. Place on a baking sheet and drizzle the olive oil over them, work the potatoes around in the oil until evenly coated.
- Season with the rosemary, salt, pepper and red pepper. (I recommend LOTS of salt and I'm not big on super salty foods.) Throw the garlic cloves on the sheet with the potatoes.
- Roast 25 minutes. Make sure to turn them all once at the halfway point or they will end up sticking to the baking sheet.

CRISPY, CRUNCHY PANKO BAKED POTATO FRIES
I love crunchy fries and love panko bread crumbs. So I came up with a idea for a coating for crispy crunchy fries today when I was working with panko breading. Ingredients can be mixed up with your favorite seasonings. Also can be deep fried as well as baked.

Steps:
- Arrange potato pieces evenly on a microwave-safe plate. Microwave on high until just tender, about 4 minutes. Let cool to room temperature. Cut potatoes into bite-size chunks.
- Heat butter and olive oil in a non-stick skillet over medium-high heat. When butter melts and starts to turn brown, swirl the pan and add the potatoes. Shake pan to arrange in an even layer. Season with salt, pepper, paprika, garlic powder, and onion powder.
- As potatoes brown, toss them and keep turning them every few minutes until they are crusty and crispy-edged and a rich reddish-brown color, 10 to 12 minutes. If potatoes seem to be cooking too quickly, reduce heat to medium. Serve topped with chopped chives.

Tips:
- Choose the right potatoes: Russet potatoes are the best choice forCrispy Crunchy Panko Baked Potato Fries because they are starchy and have a high solids content, which makes them crispy when baked.
- Cut the potatoes into even-sized fries: This will help them cook evenly. If the fries are too thick, they will not cook through properly, and if they are too thin, they will burn.
- Soak the fries in cold water for 30 minutes: This will help to remove the starch from the potatoes, which will make them crispier.
- Coat the fries with a mixture of panko breadcrumbs, Parmesan cheese, and spices: This will give them a crispy, flavorful coating.
- Bake the fries at a high temperature: This will help them to crisp up quickly. Bake the fries for 20-25 minutes, or until they are golden brown and crispy.
- Serve the fries hot with your favorite dipping sauce: Some popular dipping sauces for potato fries include ketchup, mayonnaise, ranch dressing, and barbecue sauce.
Conclusion:
Crispy Crunchy Panko Baked Potato Fries are a delicious and easy-to-make side dish that is perfect for any occasion. They are crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside, and they are coated in a flavorful mixture of panko breadcrumbs, Parmesan cheese, and spices. Serve them hot with your favorite dipping sauce and enjoy!
