I add about 2 tablespoons sugar simply to soften the taste and make my kids happy. But it is delicious without the sugar, and when I leave it out, I don't tell them and they never say a word!

Tips:

  • Choose the right Brussels sprouts. Look for firm, deep green sprouts with tightly packed leaves. Avoid any sprouts that are yellowing or have brown spots.
  • Trim and clean the Brussels sprouts. Remove the outer leaves and cut off the stem end. Rinse the sprouts under cold water and pat them dry.
  • Use a high-heat cooking method. Brussels sprouts can be roasted, grilled, sautéed, or fried. The high heat will help to caramelize the natural sugars in the sprouts and give them a crispy exterior.
  • Season the Brussels sprouts well. Brussels sprouts can handle a variety of seasonings, so don't be afraid to experiment. Try using salt, pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, or chili powder.
  • Don't overcrowd the pan. When cooking Brussels sprouts, it's important to give them enough space so that they can brown evenly. If you overcrowd the pan, the sprouts will steam instead of fry and they won't get crispy.
  • Cook the Brussels sprouts until they are tender. The cooking time will vary depending on the size of the sprouts and the cooking method you are using. However, as a general rule, Brussels sprouts should be cooked until they are tender but still slightly firm in the center.

Conclusion:

Crispy fried Brussels sprouts are a delicious and healthy side dish that can be enjoyed by people of all ages. They are a good source of vitamins, minerals, and fiber. They are also low in calories and fat. If you are looking for a new and exciting way to cook Brussels sprouts, give this recipe a try. You won't be disappointed!
