SLOW COOKER PORK ROAST

Slow Cooker Pork Roast image

I tried this cut of meat when it was on sale, and for lack of any other ideas I took suggestions from the back of the label, with a few tweaks (like making gravy). This is a very popular dish at our house, and it could not be easier! Instead of rubbing the roast with the onion soup mix and then adding the cranberry sauce, you can also just mix the onion soup mix with the cranberry sauce and pour the whole mixture over the roast.

salt and ground black pepper to taste

Steps:

  • Rub pork roast all over with onion soup mix and place roast in the slow cooker. Pour cranberry sauce over roast.
  • Cook on Low for 8 to 10 hours. Remove roast to a platter, reserving juices in the slow cooker.

Tips for Making Crock-Pot Asian Pork Roast:

- Choose a pork shoulder or pork butt roast for the best results. These cuts of meat are well-marbled and will become tender and flavorful when cooked slowly in the crock pot. - Brown the pork roast in a large skillet over medium-high heat before adding it to the crock pot. This will help to develop a nice crust on the outside of the roast and add flavor to the dish. - Use a variety of Asian-inspired ingredients in your marinade or sauce. Some good options include soy sauce, rice vinegar, ginger, garlic, and sesame oil. - Cook the pork roast on low for 8-10 hours, or on high for 4-6 hours. The meat should be fall-apart tender when it is done. - Serve the pork roast with rice, noodles, or vegetables. You can also shred the pork and use it in tacos, sandwiches, or spring rolls.
