CROCK POT TURKEY, BEAN & BACON DIP
This makes a wonderfully easy appetizer that is great to serve with tortilla chips, hearty crackers, breadsticks or whatever you like! The bacon can be easily cooked in a microwave oven before adding to the crock pot. I usually just place the bacon strips without overlapping on a paper towel on a plate. I usually cook it for 1 minute per slice but it depends on your microwave and the thickness of the bacon. It's easier to cool the bacon before crumbling it so you don't burn yourself. The jalapeno is optional depending on if you like it spicy. I used a 5-quart crock pot for this recipe. Enjoy!

Tips for Bean Crock Pot Recipes:
- Choose your beans wisely. Different beans have different cooking times, so be sure to choose beans that will cook in the same amount of time. Small, tender beans like black beans and navy beans are good choices. If you're using larger beans, like kidney beans or garbanzo beans, you may need to soak them overnight before cooking.
- Use enough liquid. Beans need plenty of liquid to cook properly. A good rule of thumb is to use 2 cups of liquid for every 1 cup of beans. You can use water, broth, or a combination of both.
- Season your beans well. Beans can be bland on their own, so it's important to season them well. Add salt, pepper, garlic, onion, and other spices to taste.
- Don't overcook your beans. Overcooked beans are mushy and unappetizing. Cook your beans until they are tender but still hold their shape.
- Add vegetables and other ingredients. Beans are a great base for a variety of dishes. Add vegetables, meat, and other ingredients to create a complete and delicious meal.
