Tips:

  • Choose the right cucumbers: Use firm, unwaxed cucumbers for the best results. English cucumbers are a popular choice because they have a thin skin and few seeds, but you can also use regular cucumbers if you peel and seed them first.
  • Chill the cucumbers before slicing: Chilling the cucumbers will help them stay crisp and prevent them from becoming watery.
  • Use a sharp knife to slice the cucumbers: A sharp knife will help you get clean, even slices that will look nice in your mold.
  • Pack the cucumbers tightly into the mold: This will help them hold their shape and prevent them from falling apart.
  • Chill the mold before unmolding: Chilling the mold will help the cucumber salad set and make it easier to unmold.
  • Garnish with fresh herbs or flowers: Fresh herbs like dill or cilantro, or edible flowers like nasturtiums, can add a nice touch of color and flavor to your cucumber salad.
