Tips:

  • Choose the right cucumber: For the best flavor and texture, use English or Persian cucumbers. They have thinner skins and fewer seeds than regular cucumbers.
  • Cut the cucumber thinly: This will help the flavors of the dressing to penetrate the cucumber and make the salad more refreshing.
  • Use good quality yogurt: For the best results, use a thick and creamy yogurt. Greek yogurt or labneh are both good options.
  • Season the yogurt: Before adding the yogurt to the salad, season it with salt, pepper, and lemon juice. This will help to brighten the flavors of the salad.
  • Use fresh herbs: Zaatar is a blend of herbs that typically includes thyme, oregano, and marjoram. For the best flavor, use fresh herbs whenever possible.
  • Toast the nuts: Toasting the nuts will help to bring out their flavor and make them more crunchy.
  • Let the salad chill: Before serving, let the salad chill for at least 30 minutes. This will help the flavors to meld and the cucumber to soften slightly.

Conclusion:

Cucumber yogurt zaatar salad is a refreshing and flavorful salad that is perfect for a light lunch or dinner. It is easy to make and can be tailored to your own taste. Experiment with different types of cucumbers, yogurt, and herbs to find the perfect combination for you.
