Tips:

  • Choose the right cucumbers and onions: For the best results, use fresh, crisp cucumbers and firm, white onions. English or Persian cucumbers are ideal for this recipe, as they have fewer seeds and a thinner skin.
  • Slice the cucumbers and onions thinly: This will help them to absorb the vinegar and seasonings more easily.
  • Use a variety of vinegar: White vinegar is the most common type of vinegar used in cucumber and onion recipes, but you can also use apple cider vinegar, rice vinegar, or even balsamic vinegar. Each type of vinegar will give the salad a slightly different flavor.
  • Add some sweetness: A little bit of sugar or honey will help to balance out the acidity of the vinegar.
  • Season the salad to taste: Salt, pepper, and dill are classic seasonings for cucumber and onion salad, but you can also add other herbs and spices to your liking.
  • Let the salad chill for at least 30 minutes before serving: This will allow the flavors to meld together.
