My Dad made this growing up and everyone always wanted more, it's sooooooo good. You serve it over mashed potato's. Anytime someone came to visit this was one of the most requested meals. That and his fried chicken, but that's a recipe for another time.

1 to 1 1/2 Cup Milk
2 Tablespoons Flour
1 Cup Hot Water
2 Tablespoons Kitchen Boquet

Steps:

  • Brown meat with seasonings to your taste and then set aside leaving behind the grease With the grease in the pan add Flour sparingly to get a kind of juicy paste. Add cup to a cup and a half of milk to thicken. Start adding hot water stirring constantly until you get the thickness you want Then add meat back in Add more water to thin if needed add kitchen bouquet for color and flavor

1 lb ground beef
1 can cream of mushroom soup
1/2 small onion, minced
salt & pepper
1 tablespoon flour
1 teaspoon beef bouillon

Steps:

  • In a large skillet, brown ground beef.
  • Drain well.
  • Add soup, onions and salt& pepper to taste, beef bouillon, add 1 1/2-1 3/4 can of water (using the soup can) to the mixture.
  • Stir in slowly.
  • Simmer 15 to 20 minutes.
  • Thicken gravy with the flour to the consistency you prefer.
  • Simmer 5 minutes more.
  • Serve over mashed potatoes.

4 leftover hamburgers, or 1 pound of leftover meat loaf or 1 pound of browned ground beef
Gravy ingredients:
4 Tbsp reserved fat from cooked meat (beef or bacon) or 4 Tbsp butter
½ medium sized onion, chopped
1 bell pepper, chopped
1 can of mushrooms, or 1 cup of fresh mushrooms, cut into pieces
2 cups beef broth
2 Tbsp corn starch
Salt and pepper to taste
Biscuits, toast, mashed potatoes, cooked rice, or noodles.

Steps:

  • Crumble the hamburgers or meat loaf.
  • Start your gravy by heating the butter or fat over medium heat in a mid-sized sauce pan or skillet.
  • Add the vegetables to the butter and cook until soft or lightly browned.
