Time 45m

Number Of Ingredients 8

12 hard boiled eggs
12 spanish olives
1/2 tsp onion powder
1 tsp celery seed
1/2 tsp salt and pepper
paprika
1/2 c real mayonnaise (not salad dressing)
1/4 c durkee famous sandwich & salad sauce

Steps:

  • 1. Slice each hard boiled egg in half length-wise and pop the yolk into a bowl.
  • 2. Line up the white part of the eggs on a plate and set aside.
  • 3. Mash all the eggs yolks with a fork until fine crumbled.
  • 4. Add the onion powder, celery seed, salt & pepper to the yolks. Add the mayonnaise and Durkee sauce. Mix well.
  • 5. Fill the holes in the whites with teaspoonfuls of the yolk mixture until all the yolk mixture is evenly divided between the eggs.
  • 6. Slice the olives in half and top each yolk mixture with half an olive cut side up. Sprinkle with paprika and refrigerate until ready to serve.

Tips:

  • Use fresh, hard-boiled eggs. Fresh eggs will have a better flavor and texture than older eggs. To hard-boil the eggs, place them in a single layer in a saucepan and cover them with cold water. Bring the water to a boil, then cover the saucepan and remove it from the heat. Let the eggs stand in the hot water for 10-12 minutes, depending on how hard you want them to be. Drain the hot water and immediately run cold water over the eggs until they are cool to the touch. Peel the eggs and set them aside.
  • Use a variety of fillings. The classic deviled egg filling is made with mayonnaise, mustard, and paprika, but there are many other possibilities. You can add chopped ham, bacon, cheese, pickles, or diced vegetables. You can also use flavored mayonnaise, such as dill or garlic mayonnaise, to add a different flavor to your deviled eggs.
  • Be creative with your garnishes. Deviled eggs can be garnished with a variety of items, such as chopped parsley, chives, paprika, or grated hard-boiled egg. You can also use small pieces of bacon, ham, or cheese to garnish your deviled eggs. Get creative and have fun!
  • Chill the deviled eggs before serving. This will help them to firm up and make them easier to eat. You can chill the deviled eggs for at least 30 minutes, or up to overnight.

Conclusion:

Deviled eggs are a classic party appetizer that is always a hit. They are easy to make, and you can customize them to your own taste. With a little creativity, you can create deviled eggs that are both delicious and beautiful. So next time you are looking for a quick and easy appetizer, give deviled eggs a try. You won't be disappointed!
