DIFFERENT CHICKEN DIVAN

Time 1h40m

Number Of Ingredients 7

3 lb chicken breast
1 pkg frozen broccoli
3 can(s) cream of chicken soup
1 Tbsp curry powder
1 pkg shredded cheddar cheese
1 c bread crumbs, dry
1 stick melted margarine

Steps:

  • 1. Boil Chicken breasts (or whole, or cut up chicken) till done. Remove from liquid to cool on plate. (when chicken is cool, shred) Pour bag of frozen broccoli into liquid chicken was cooked in and cook slightly till broccoli is still slightly firm. (You may also use fresh broccoli.)
  • 2. Layer broccoli in 13x9 baking dish. Layer shredded chicken over broccoli. In medium saucepan, mix soup (do not add water) and curry powder. Amount of curry powder may be adjusted to taste. Heat mixture to warm.
  • 3. Pour soup mixture over chicken. Sprinkle cheese over soup mixture.(More cheese may be added if preferable.) Sprinkle bread crumbs over cheese. Spoon melted butter over bread crumbs. Bake in a 375 degree oven for about 25-35 minutes or till top is golden brown. Let cool slightly. Serve with buttered rolls.
  • 4. All amounts may be adjusted to taste. I actually have never measured the items, I just make what feels right to the size pan, etc. that I am using.

Tips:

  • For a creamy and rich sauce, use a combination of heavy cream and cream cheese. If you prefer a lighter sauce, use half-and-half instead of heavy cream.
  • For a crispy topping, use a combination of grated Parmesan cheese and bread crumbs. You can also use crushed crackers or cornflakes.
  • To add some extra flavor to the dish, try adding a tablespoon of Dijon mustard or a pinch of cayenne pepper to the sauce.
  • If you're using frozen broccoli, be sure to thaw it completely before adding it to the dish. This will help prevent the sauce from becoming watery.
  • Serve Chicken Divan immediately after baking. This will ensure that the sauce is hot and bubbly and the chicken is tender and juicy.
  • Conclusion:

Chicken Divan is a classic dish that is easy to make and always a crowd-pleaser. With its creamy sauce, tender chicken, and crispy topping, it's sure to be a hit at your next dinner party or potluck. So next time you're looking for a delicious and comforting meal, give Chicken Divan a try. You won't be disappointed!
