They were already being fed homemade food so treats were the next progression. Since I have the fussiest dogs in the universe, finding treats (and food) recipes is always a challenge but this is one recipe that my guys appear to enjoy!

DOG BISCUITS: PEANUT BUTTER AND PUMPKIN
I always have these ingredients in the pantry. You can use either all purpose flour or whole wheat, quick cook or old fashioned oats, and chunky or smooth peanut butter. When these are in the oven, the house smells so good that my husband would even try them I think. I love to whip these up for the girls (dogs). It's only fair they get special treats now and again :) I also make these around Christmas and give them to my friends with dogs! Great gift for pet owners!!!

MAPLE/BRAN DOG BISCUITS
I use the dark non stick pans. If you are using lighter pans, you may want to lightly 'pam' your cookie sheets. I use two large sheets, but 2 small sheets can fit on each rack. I like to make big batches, so they last a little longer, plus I have 2 dogs, and they like to do tricks and beg a lot!

Steps:
- Preheat oven to 350. In large bowl, whisk together eggs and pumpkin to smooth. Stir in dry milk, sea salt, and dried parsley (if using, optional). Add brown rice flour gradually, combining with spatula or hands to form a stiff, dry dough. Turn out onto lightly floured surface (can use the brown rice flour) and if dough is still rough, briefly knead and press to combine. Roll dough between 1/4 - 1/2″ - depending on your dog's chew preferences, - and use biscuit or other shape cutter to punch shapes, gathering and re-rolling scraps as you go. Place shapes on cookie sheet, no greasing or paper necessary. If desired, press fork pattern on biscuits before baking, a quick up-and-down movement with fork, lightly pressing down halfway through dough. Bake 20 minutes. Remove from oven and carefully turn biscuits over, then bake additional 20 minutes. Allow to cool completely on rack before feeding to dog.
Tips:
- Opt for fresh, high-quality ingredients: Ensure the ingredients you use are fresh and of good quality. This will greatly impact the taste and nutritional value of the dog biscuits.
- Follow the recipe accurately: Carefully follow the recipe instructions, paying attention to measurements and baking times. Consistency is important for achieving the desired texture and flavor.
- Chill the dough before baking: Chilling the dough before baking helps it hold its shape better and prevents it from spreading too much in the oven.
- Bake the biscuits until they are firm: The biscuits should be firm to the touch when they are done baking. If they are too soft, they may crumble or break easily.
- Store the biscuits properly: Store the baked biscuits in an airtight container at room temperature. They will stay fresh for up to two weeks.
Conclusion:
With a wide variety of recipes available, you can create homemade dog biscuits that are both tasty and nutritious for your furry friend. Experiment with different flavors and ingredients to find the ones your dog loves the most. Remember to choose fresh, high-quality ingredients, follow the recipes carefully, and bake the biscuits until they are firm. Store the baked biscuits properly to maintain their freshness and enjoy the satisfaction of providing your dog with a homemade treat made with love.
