1/3 cup buttermilk
1 cup chopped peeled apple (about 1 large)
1/3 cup walnuts, finely chopped
1/2 cup flour
2 tablespoons sugar
2 tablespoons packed brown sugar
3/4-1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
3 tablespoons butter or 3 tablespoons margarine

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350.
  • Grease a 9x5x3" loaf pan.
  • In a mixing bowl, cream butter and sugar.
  • Beat in eggs and vanilla.
  • Combine flour, baking soda and salt, and stir into the creamed mixture alternately with the buttermilk.

2 large eggs, room temperature
1/4 cup buttermilk

2 cups diced peeled tart apples
1/2 cup chopped walnuts
