This is real comfort food. People will think that you made it from scratch. We like it for a fast meal, for pot-luck dinners, for chilly nights, etc. You can use boned chicken, but for a truly dump and cook meal, use the canned chicken meat. You will love it. I posted this recipe on another site and it has received only five star ratings.

Grandma made two versions of this dish. For special occasions there were home made noodles and broth that cooked all day. This recipe, however, was the one she made when she was in a hurry or just making a regular meal. Nothing special, she said. But either version was so good!!!!

EASY TURKEY OR CHICKEN AND NOODLES.

Easy turkey or chicken and noodles. image

This is a great recipe for after thanksgiving meals using left over turkey.

Provided by tina eller

Categories     Turkey

Time 40m

Number Of Ingredients 5

8 oz any kind of pasta ( i prefer egg noodles)
one half c margerine
8 oz cream of chicken soup
two third c frozen peas and carrots thawed
3 c diced left over turkey or chicken

Steps:

  • 1. cook pasta as directed.melt margerine in skillet. Add cream of chicken soup, peas and casrrots. Heat til bubbly. Toss with drained pasta, add turkey or chicken, mix well. I serve this with a side salad and warm french bread.

Tips:

  • Choose the right chicken. For this recipe, boneless, skinless chicken breasts or thighs are best. You can also use a whole chicken, but you'll need to remove the bones and skin yourself.
  • Don't overcrowd the pan. When browning the chicken, be sure to leave enough space between the pieces so that they can brown evenly. If you overcrowd the pan, the chicken will steam instead of brown.
  • Cook the noodles al dente. Al dente means "to the tooth" in Italian, and it refers to the ideal doneness of pasta. Al dente pasta is still slightly firm to the bite, but it's not hard or crunchy.
  • Season the broth well. The broth is the foundation of this dish, so be sure to season it well. You can use a variety of seasonings, such as salt, pepper, garlic, onion, and herbs.
  • Don't overcook the vegetables. The vegetables should be tender, but not mushy. Overcooked vegetables will lose their flavor and nutrients.
  • Serve immediately. Chicken and noodles is best served immediately after it's made. This will ensure that the noodles are still hot and the vegetables are still crisp.

Conclusion:

Chicken and noodles is a classic comfort food that's easy to make and loved by people of all ages. This recipe is a great way to use up leftover chicken, and it's also a budget-friendly meal. With a few simple ingredients and a little bit of time, you can create a delicious and satisfying dish that the whole family will enjoy.
