1/2 cup unsalted butter, room temperature
3/4 cup granulated sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla
3/4 teaspoon cinnamon
Pinch fine sea salt
1/2 cup granulated sugar
3/4 teaspoon cinnamon
Pinch fine sea salt
6 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted.

Steps:

  • Preheat the oven 350° and have ready a well-greased 9x13" pan.
  • Add the cream cheese, a 1/2 cup (1 stick) butter, 3/4 cup sugar, vanilla, 3/4 teaspoon cinnamon, and salt to the bowl of a stand mixer fitted with a paddle attachment. • Add the cream cheese filling to the pan and smooth over the top. Lay the second sheet of puff pastry over the top.
  • In a small bowl, stir together 1/2 cup of sugar, 3/4 teaspoon cinnamon, and a generous pinch of sea salt. Drizzle the melted 6 tablespoons of butter evenly over the top of the puff pastry, and top with the sugar mixture.
  • Bake at 350° for 35-40 minutes, until golden brown. Remove from the oven and allow to cool 1-2 hours before cutting into.

Tips:

  • To make the sopaipillas, use a pastry cutter or two knives to cut the shortening into the flour mixture until it resembles coarse crumbs. This will help to create a flaky texture.
  • If the dough is too dry, add a little more milk. If the dough is too wet, add a little more flour.
  • Roll out the dough to a thickness of about 1/4 inch. If the dough is too thick, it will be difficult to cook evenly.
  • Fry the sopaipillas in hot oil until they are golden brown on both sides. Do not overcrowd the pan, or the sopaipillas will not cook evenly.
  • Drain the sopaipillas on paper towels to remove excess oil.
  • To make the cinnamon cream cheese filling, simply combine the cream cheese, sugar, cinnamon, and vanilla extract in a bowl and beat until smooth.
  • Fill the sopaipillas with the cinnamon cream cheese filling and serve immediately.

Conclusion:

These cinnamon cream cheese sopaipillas are a delicious and easy-to-make treat that are perfect for any occasion. They are light and flaky, with a sweet and creamy filling. The sopaipillas can be served warm or cold, and they are always a hit with family and friends. So next time you are looking for a special dessert, give these cinnamon cream cheese sopaipillas a try. You won't be disappointed!
