Tips:

  • For a more flavorful dish, use a high-quality ground beef. Look for beef that is at least 80% lean.
  • Season the ground beef generously with salt and pepper. You can also add other spices, such as garlic powder, onion powder, or chili powder.
  • Brown the ground beef in a large skillet over medium heat. Cook until the beef is no longer pink, breaking it up with a spatula as it cooks.
  • Drain the excess grease from the ground beef. You can do this by using a colander or by lining a plate with paper towels and then draining the beef on top of the paper towels.
  • Use a good quality biscuit mix. If you have time, you can make your own biscuits from scratch. However, using a biscuit mix is a quick and easy way to make this dish.
  • Follow the directions on the biscuit mix package to make the biscuits. You will typically need to add water or milk to the mix and then stir until the dough comes together.
  • Drop the biscuit dough by spoonfuls onto the top of the ground beef mixture. You can also use a biscuit cutter to cut out biscuits from the dough and then place them on top of the beef.
  • Bake the dish in a preheated oven until the biscuits are golden brown and the beef is cooked through. This will typically take about 20-25 minutes.
  • Serve the hamburger and biscuit bake immediately. You can garnish it with chopped parsley or chives, if desired.
