Categories     Vegetable

Time 10m

Yield 3-4 serving(s)

Number Of Ingredients 6

2 avocados, ripe
2 tomatoes, vine-ripened
1 lime, juice of, bottled lime juice is also fine
4 tablespoons olive oil
salt & fresh ground pepper
1 garlic clove, very finely chopped

Steps:

  • Cut the tomatoes into large chunks, approximately 3/4" cubed.
  • Cut the avocados in half and remove the pit. Cut the avocado flesh into chunks around the same size as the tomato chunks; this can either be done by removing the avocado from the skin and chopping it or it can be done by cutting the avocado while still in the skin and turning the skin inside out.
  • Add olive oil, lime juice, and optional garlic, then salt and pepper to taste.

Tips:

  • Choose ripe, flavorful tomatoes: The quality of your tomatoes will make a big difference in the flavor of your salad. Look for tomatoes that are deep red, plump, and have no blemishes.
  • Use a variety of tomatoes: Don't be afraid to mix and match different types of tomatoes in your salad. Cherry tomatoes, Roma tomatoes, and heirloom tomatoes all have unique flavors and textures that can add interest to your dish.
  • Use ripe avocados: Avocados should be ripe but not too soft. If your avocados are too hard, they won't be creamy enough for the salad. If they're too soft, they'll be mushy.
  • Use fresh herbs: Fresh herbs, such as basil, cilantro, and parsley, can add a lot of flavor to your salad. If you don't have fresh herbs on hand, you can use dried herbs, but they won't be as flavorful.
  • Don't overdress the salad: A little bit of dressing goes a long way. If you overdress the salad, it will be soggy and unappetizing. Start with a small amount of dressing and add more to taste.

Conclusion:

Tomato avocado salad is a simple but delicious dish that is perfect for a light lunch or dinner. It is also a great way to use up leftover tomatoes and avocados. With a few simple ingredients and a little bit of time, you can create a flavorful and refreshing salad that everyone will enjoy.
