Time 1h30m

Yield 10

Number Of Ingredients 9

1 tablespoon solid vegetable shortening
1 tablespoon all-purpose flour
1 (18.25 ounce) box devil's food chocolate cake mix (such as Betty Crocker® Super Moist®)
1 ⅓ cups water
3 eggs
½ cup vegetable oil
1 (12 ounce) jar caramel ice cream topping, divided
4 (1 ounce) squares semisweet baking chocolate, coarsely chopped
½ cup pecan halves, coarsely chopped

Steps:

  • Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease and flour the bottom and sides of a 12-inch stainless steel, oven-safe skillet with shortening and flour, tapping out any excess flour.
  • Combine cake mix, water, eggs, and oil in a large bowl; beat with an electric mixer on low speed until moistened. Increase speed to medium and beat for 2 minutes, scraping bowl occasionally. Pour batter into the bottom of the prepared skillet.
  • Bake, uncovered, in the preheated oven until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean, 30 to 35 minutes.
  • Cool on a wire rack for 5 minutes. Run a table knife around the edges to loosen and carefully invert onto a large round platter. Let cool, about 30 minutes.
  • Meanwhile, combine 1/2 of the caramel topping with the baking chocolate in a microwave-safe bowl. Microwave, uncovered, on high until chocolate is melted, about 30 to 60 seconds. Stir mixture until combined and smooth; carefully spread over the cake.
  • Sprinkle cake with pecans and drizzle remaining caramel topping over top. Let stand until topping is set. Cut into wedges to serve.

EZ TURTLE SKILLET FUDGE CAKE

EZ Turtle Skillet Fudge Cake image

This is a quick and wonderful cake for guests, birthdays or just you guys. It helps if you have a 12" non-stick skillet like the executive skillet from the Pampered Chef. Dont try this with a stainless pan. I love this pan for cakes because it has the simplicity of a 9x13 pan but the sexy looks of a layer cake. And the pan...

Time 50m

Number Of Ingredients 7

1 box chocolate cake mix of your choice
1 c milk
3 eggs
1/3 c melted butter plus 1 extra tblsp. for the pan
4 oz semi-sweet baking chocolate, bars chopped or chips
1 jar caramel topping for ice cream
1/3 c chopped pecans

Steps:

  • 1. You will need a 12" non-stick oven proof skillet or a 9 x 13 pa. . Preheat oven to 350. Melt 1 Tbsp. butter in the skillet on the stove top, spreading around.
  • 2. Mix cake mix, milk, eggs and 1/3 cup melted butter with a hand or standing mixer until smooth. Pour into your pan, spreading evenly. These pans are good at distributing heat so you do not get a domed cake.
  • 3. Bake about 30 minutes, testing with a straw to see if done. Let cool 5 minutes, then carefully turn out onto a large platter.
  • 4. Put the chocolate and half the caramel sauce in a microwave safe dish and heat for 30-45 seconds, stirring until smooth. (or use small saucepan on stove)
  • 5. Pour sauce over cooled cake, smoothing out to edges so it will drip over. Add the chopped nuts . If you want to drizzle the rest of the caramel sauce over the whole thing. Now take a picture because it is beautiful and yummy!

Tips:

Choose the Right Ingredients: - Use high-quality cocoa powder for a rich chocolate flavor. - Use unsalted butter to control the saltiness of the cake. - Use pure vanilla extract for the best flavor. Measure Accurately: - Measure dry ingredients using a kitchen scale for precision. - Level off measuring cups with a knife to ensure accurate measurements. Don't Overmix the Batter: - Overmixing can result in a tough, dense cake. Mix just until the ingredients are well combined. Bake at the Right Temperature: - The cake should be baked at a moderate temperature (350°F/175°C) to prevent burning. Don't Overbake the Cake: - Overbaking can dry out the cake. Bake just until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out with just a few moist crumbs attached.

Conclusion:

In conclusion, with careful attention to detail, precise measurements, and avoiding overmixing or overbaking, you'll create a moist, chocolatey Turtle Skillet Fudge Cake that will delight your taste buds. The combination of chocolate, caramel, and pecans creates a decadent dessert that is perfect for any occasion. So gather your ingredients, preheat your oven, and embark on this culinary journey to indulgence. Happy baking!
