OVEN BAKED HADDOCK
We'd invited a couple of families over for dinner, and our daughter Joyce and her husband, Josh, said they were going to bring some fresh haddock. Josh wanted to find just the right recipe to prepare, and this is the one he chose. The topping--sliced plum tomatoes plus bread crumbs mixed with herbs and vegetables--adds nice flavor and color. It made a hit, and everyone really enjoyed the meal.

Tips for Baking Haddock
- Choose a fresh haddock fillet. Fresh haddock has a mild, slightly sweet flavor. Look for fillets that are firm and white, with no brown spots.
- Thaw frozen haddock fillets thoroughly before cooking. If you're using frozen haddock fillets, thaw them in the refrigerator overnight or in a bowl of cold water for about 30 minutes.
- Season the haddock fillets with salt and pepper before baking. You can also add other seasonings, such as garlic powder, onion powder, or paprika.
- Bake the haddock fillets at a high temperature. This will help to keep the fillets moist and flaky. The ideal baking temperature for haddock is 400 degrees Fahrenheit.
- Bake the haddock fillets for about 10-12 minutes per inch of thickness. Use a fork to check if the fillets are cooked through. The fish should be opaque and flake easily with a fork.
Conclusion
Baked haddock is a delicious and versatile dish that can be enjoyed by people of all ages. It is a healthy and affordable option for a weeknight meal or a special occasion. Whether you are serving it with rice, potatoes, or vegetables, baked haddock is sure to be a hit.
