1 clove garlic, minced
1 15.5-16 ounce can red kidney beans, rinsed and drained
1 15.25-16 ounce can lima beans, rinsed and drained
1 15-16 ounce can pork and beans in tomato sauce
1 15-16 ounce can garbanzo beans (chickpeas), rinsed and drained
1 15 ounce can butter beans, rinsed and drained
0.75 cup ketchup
0.5 cup molasses
0.25 cup packed brown sugar
1 tablespoon yellow mustard
1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 375ºF. In a large skillet cook onion, bacon, and garlic until bacon is crisp and onion is tender; drain.
  • In a large bowl combine onion mixture, beans, ketchup, molasses, brown sugar, mustard, and Worcestershire sauce. Transfer bean mixture to an ungreased 3-quart casserole.
  • Bake, covered, for 1 hour.

1 can (15 ounce size) butter beans, drained and rinsed

1 pound bacon, chopped in 1-inch pieces
1 medium onion, sauteed in bacon dripping
1 cup brown sugar
1 cup ketchup
1/4 cup white wine vinegar

Steps:

  • Heat the oven to 300 degrees F. Cook the bacon in a large skillet until crisp. Remove the bacon pieces and drain on paper towels. Add the onion to the bacon drippings and saute until browned. 1 (15 ounce) can garbanzo beans, drained
1 (28 ounce) can baked beans

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
  • Place bacon in a large, deep skillet. Cook over medium-high heat until evenly brown. Drain, crumble, and set aside.

1 onion , sliced
2 peppers , sliced
2 garlic cloves , crushed
1 tbsp ground cumin
1 tbsp ground coriander
2 tsp hot smoked paprika
400g can chopped tomatoes
400g can mixed beans , drained
400g can black beans , drained
pinch of sugar
250g brown rice
½ small bunch coriander , chopped
soured cream or guacamole, to serve (optional)

Steps:

  • Heat the oil in a casserole dish and fry the onion and peppers for 10 mins over a medium heat until the onion is golden brown. Add the garlic and spices, and fry for 1 min. Pour in the tomatoes, both cans of beans, 50ml water, then add the sugar and season. Simmer, stirring regularly, for 15-20 mins until thickened.

5 packages (16 ounces each) dried beans: lima, great northern, kidney, pinto and split peas (enough for four batches of soup)
3 beef bouillon cubes
3 tablespoons minced chives
1 teaspoon dried savory
1 teaspoon salt, optional
1/2 teaspoon ground cumin
1/2 teaspoon pepper
1 bay leaf
2-1/2 quarts water
1 can (14-1/2 ounces) stewed tomatoes

Steps:

  • Combine beans; divide into four even batches, about 3-3/4 cups each., To make one batch of soup: Wash one batch of beans. Place in a large kettle; add enough water to cover. Bring to a boil; cook for 3-4 minutes. Remove from heat; cover and let stand 1 hour. , Tie spices in a cheesecloth bag. Drain and rinse beans. Return to kettle; add bouillon, spices and water.
