Time 10m

Number Of Ingredients 7

2 eggs
1 cup almond milk
1 1/2 tablespoon granulated sugar or honey
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
Pinch of salt
8 slices sandwich bread

Steps:

  • Take a big mixing bowl and add in the eggs, almond milk, sugar, vanilla, cinnamon, and pinch of salt. Give the mixture a good stir or whisk.
  • Place the bread in one slice at a time. Flip the bread to make sure both sides are coated evenly. You don't want the bread to sit in the mixture too long as it can soak up too much liquid and become soggy. Set the coated bread to the side on a plate.
  • Heat a pan or skillet on medium heat. Add coconut oil or melt butter in the pan. Then place the slices of coated bread in the skillet. Cook each side of the bread for 2-3 minutes or until lightly golden brown.
  • Enjoy topped with honey / maple syrup and berries.

Tips:

  • Choose the right bread: Stale or day-old bread works best because it absorbs the egg mixture better and results in a more evenly cooked French toast.
  • Make sure the almond milk is unsweetened: Sweetened almond milk will make your French toast too sweet.
  • Use a non-stick skillet: This will help prevent your French toast from sticking and burning.
  • Cook over medium heat: Cooking over medium heat will help your French toast cook evenly without burning.
  • Flip your French toast only once: Flipping your French toast too often will make it break.
  • Serve immediately: French toast is best served immediately after it is cooked.

Conclusion:

French toast made with almond milk is a delicious and easy-to-make breakfast or brunch dish. It is a great way to use up stale bread and is also a good source of protein and fiber. With the right ingredients and a little bit of know-how, you can make perfect French toast with almond milk every time.
